The present paper tries to revisit Claude Lévi-Strauss’s ideas about the
mind as a universal. It captures the lineaments by which Lévi-Strauss’s “savage
mind” is a kind of idealized manifestation of the human mind, that is, an object with
transparent properties in which and by which the opacity of all thought (especially
the “civilized” or “scientific” one) could be overcomed.
O presente artigo tenta revisitar as ideias de Claude Lévi-Strauss acerca
da mente como um universal. Identifica os contornos pelos quais o “pensamento
selvagem” de Lévi-Strauss é uma espécie de manifestação idealizada da mente
humana, isto é, um objecto com propriedades transparentes no qual e pelo qual
a opacidade de todo o pensamento (especialmente o “civilizado” ou “científico”)
pode ser ultrapassada.
